MONSTER is Incredibly Underrated - Review

Ewan and Lachlan revisit a film they've already reviewed 9 months at last year's Cannes Film Festival. This time they get to share their in-depth spoiler thoughts on the latest film from Hirokazu Kore-eda Monster. In preparation for a movie bracket on Denis Villeneuve, they have been (re)watching his filmography in addition to catching the latest (serious) Adam Sandler movie on Netflix called Spaceman. Ewan went on a binge of new releases with Damsel, Ricky Stanicky, Kung Fu Panda 4, Shogun, Megamind, and the Doom Syndicate and he even made time to see Dune Part 2 again, but in IMAX this time.

Ewan is recovering from sickness and Lachlan has a messy room. Oscar Nominations, Sundance & Fallen Leaves

IT'S LACHLAN'S BIRTHDAY! This week we discuss the Nominations for the 96th Academy Awards. What were the Snubs and Surprises? One of the films that unfortunately did not make the Final 5 for the Internation Feature Category is Aki Kaurismäki's Fallen Leaves, which is the film we are going to review in detail. The Sundance Film Festival has wrapped and Ewan caught some films virtually that he'll tell you about and Lachlan started True Detective: Night Country.

How PRISCILLA solves the Biopic Problem.

Ewan and Lachlan go over a variety of news about productions starting up again, remakes and castings being announced, and the exciting new trailer for Spaceman. Ewan has been very busy with watching some of the first releases of 2023 and Lachlan is catching up on the second seasons of The Bear and Reacher. Finally, they discuss the A24 x Sofia Coppola coproduction Priscilla, a portrait of a woman drawn into a relationship with Elvis Presley.
