I SAW THE TV GLOW Is a Work of Art
Ewan and Lachlan are back - well Ewan is at least as Lachlan suffers from an expected audio & video issue for the first 30 minutes of the podcast. While we stare at Lachlan's enraged face mad at his external drive, they chat about the Nintendo Direct that announced new games for The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong, Mario & Luigi, Mario Party, and Metroid. They discuss the recent success of Inside Out at the box office, a new Richard Linklater film, and a $300 Mio film from the Russo Brothers. After discussing the trailer for Smile 2, A Real Pain, The Front Room, and The Penguin they talk about the ongoing disappointment of The Acolyte and the successful start of the fourth season of The Boys and the second season of House of the Dragon. Finally, after Ewan shares his thoughts on I Used to Be Funny, Fancy Dance, and The Beast, the two discuss Jane Schoenbrun's sophomore feature film I Saw the TV Glow.

Ewan and Lachlan talk about Sony acquiring Alama Draft House, a revived Game of Thrones spin-off series, Zack Synder's Director's Cut for Rebel Moon, and the trailers for Arcane Season 2, The Wild Robot and Paddington in Peru. Lachlan shows us an exciting new steel book and Ewan shares his thoughts on The Boys Season 4 and the first four episodes of season 2 of House of the Dragon. KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES is EPIC.
Ewan and Lachlan share their thoughts on Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, talk about reboots, spin-off and sequels to Blade Runner, The Office, Lord of the Rings, Superman and Robin Hood. Ewan binged through all 10 Planet of the Apes films, a range of disappointing 2024 releases like Arcadian, Unfrosted, Humane, Garfield, Prom Dates & Founders Day. He liked Turtles All the Way Down though. Lachlan watched Late Night With the Devil and struggles his way through a temporary set up this week.
MAY DECEMBER is Deliciously Awkward
It's that time of the year when the films that premiered at Cannes finally release for all audiences worldwide and among them is this week's movie May December. Ewan shares his love for Todd Haynes filmmaking while Lachlan loved the movie more for its technical achievements rather than narrative ones. Ewan also caught some Christmas-themed movies like The Holdovers and «It's a Wonderful Knife» and they both sat through the horrible Family Switch, why? - they still don't know. Lachlan (re)watched a couple more Ridley Scott movies including Thelma & Louise and Gladiator and is very excited for the live-action Fallout series that just premiered its first trailer. Finally, Furiosa, The Boys Season 4, and House of the Dragon Season 2 all premiered their first trailers this week.

They also discuss what Scorsese's Best Film is and if Cinema is Indeed Dying. Lachlan rewatched both Scream 4 and Blade Runner 2049 and they both watched Totally Killer. Ewan watched Bill Burr's directorial debut Old Dads and Reptile on Netflix and binged through the latest season of Big Mouth. He's also got some thoughts on the rather disappointing second season of Loki and praises The Boys spin-off Gen V
